Tiffany gained her BSc (hons) Equine from Portsmouth University and graduated in 2012. After graduating, she took a year out, working and playing for a polo club before completing her masters degree in Veterinary Microbiology at Surrey University (School of Veterinary Medicine) graduating in 2014.

She was then involved in a research program at The Pirbright Institute to research African Horse Sickness Virus (control measures) and published a paper in 'Journal of Parasites and Vectors' (Baker et al. Parasites & Vectors (2015) 8:604).

Victoria Deacon

Victoria completed her undergraduate degree in 2004 at Aberystwyth University, gaining a BSc (Hons) in Zoology and Microbiology. She then went on to study for an MSc in Medical Microbiology at Liverpool University, completing a dissertation looking at the prevalence of MRSA in Veterinary Personnel.

In 2006 Victoria joined the Enteric Pathogens Laboratory at the Institute for Animal Health in Berkshire, where her research focused on investigating the role of cytotoxins in the intestinal colonisation of E. coli in cattle. She was subsequently awarded a PhD by Imperial College London in 2011.

Victoria has had a varied career. She has worked with young people in school and college, spent time testing boar fertility for a livestock genetic improvement company, and worked as a microbiologist within a biopharmaceutical company specialising in filtration devices. Recently she has spent time out of work to bring up two children and is excited to join the BioTe team as a Laboratory Technician.

Testimonials

  • I have used BioTe for all my breeding and performance horse work. I have been very satisfied with the speed and efficiency of the lab tests. Whenever I have had the need to contact the lab, the team has always been both knowledgeable and helpful.
  • The initial enthusiasm from BioTe to take on our lab work has been more than matched by the continuing friendly and personal service, and going the extra mile when needed to be helpful out of hours and at weekends. Absolutely delighted with the dedicated equine service and very reasonable prices.
  • I have used BioTe for over 2 years for all my equine reproductive laboratory needs. I have been impressed with the quick turnaround, which when dealing with Thoroughbred mares going off to stud, is paramount. I have also found Tiffany, the lead laboratory scientist, extremely knowledgeable and always happy to discuss results and other tests that might be of interest to my clients. Given the professionalism of which the laboratory is run, and the reasonableness of their costs, I would not send my work anywhere else.
